One of four moose (Alces alces andersoni) being introduced to Newfoundland,
from New Brunswick, on May 14, 1904 (near Howley, east of Deer Lake). The introduction occurred approximately 20 kms (12 miles) from the boundary with present day Gros Morne National Park. The first moose hunting season was in 1945.
